BALATON

Balaton (working title) is a historical romantic dramedy about Hungary in the 1980’s, the summers at Lake Balaton and the world of Stasi operatives keeping an eye on East German tourists spending their holidays at the lake.

When two German families from East and West spent their summer vacation together at Lake Balaton in Hungary in 1985, three teenagers met: 17-year-old GREGOR from the GDR, his cousin from the West, STEFAN (18) and 17-year-old Hungarian MARI, whose father runs a campsite as an informant for the Stasi. While old conflicts break out among the adults, the three young people find themselves again in an emotional triangle made up of a first great love, the desire for freedom and a fateful decision.
